Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships have changed!

Apprenticeships are available at every level from Level 2 (usually equal to GCSE 4/5) all the way up to Degree and Masters Apprenticeships.

To receive notification of new vacancies see the careers adviser in school so you can be added to the apprenticeship mailing list.

There are apprenticeships in the traditional apprenticeship jobs such as hairdressing, motor mechanics and office work. What has changed is the new, wide range of other apprenticeships available to school leavers at 16 to 18. These can include accounts, lawyers, engineers, computer experts, nurses, physiotherapists and many, many more.

We now have a new section dedicated to helping you find apprenticeship vacancies.

Here is the link or click on the image.

If your school uses UNIFROG you can also search there for apprenticeships.

Again do not rely on UNIFROG to have every vacancy. .

Here are some other websites showing vacancies. CAUTION some vacancies may not always be as good as they seem. Please ask an adult, such as your parents, teachers or careers adviser for advice. The adverts to be cautious about are usually:

hourly paid

no training,

self employed

Some vacancies may be what is known as ‘chugging’. This is working for an organisation trying to get people to give to charity. You would receive a low basic wage plus commission on sign ups. The person giving to the charity signs up to give a regular amount each month. Unfortunately, we are seeing more and more of these being advertised on sites for young people looking for employment. If you are attracted to one of these please speak to an adult before you agree to this work.
